Welcome on the website of the PATAN Automobile Club
PATAN is an organization comprised of owners of rear wheel drive Citroën’s built between 1919 and 1939.
How it all started:
PATAN , one of the 30 Citroën clubs in The Netherlands, was initially organized 18 November 1979.
At that time PATAN (the letters stood then for Propulsion Arrière Traction Avant Nederland) (Translation: Propulsion Rear Traction Avant Netherlands) and was a division of the T.A.N, and in the T.A.N. organization many of the members also owned a Traction Avant (front wheel drive) in addition to older rear wheel drive Citroëns built before 1939 therefore, Traction Avant became part of the name.
On 1 January 1994 PATAN broke the tie with the T.A.N. and became a self standing organization, an organization that distinguishes itself from other clubs in that the members own and drive so many different types and models of Citroëns built between 1919 and 1939.

Scotland tour.
The name for this tour is in Dutch : "De Schotse Ruit rit"
It is difficult to translate but the best translation is : "The Scottisch Quare ride"
The PATAN union is preparing to start the organization of a tour with 40 vintage cars to Scotland for the year 2012.
We have organized in the past Istanbul-Amsterdam, Benelux, Germany tour and also a tour to England Stonehenge, coming by boat and leaving the country by train. For us it was an experience to drive on the left site of the road.
The Dutch PATAN club are owners of vintage Citroën cars of the year 1919 up till 1934 and we are starting this year
to organize a trip to Scotland of approx. 10 days. We have about 40 cars booked for this trip.

Information PATAN tour 2012
The average speed of these cars is 35km = 20 miles per hour and the limit per day is 100 miles if we don't have a stop for a visit sightseeing. Mostly we prefer per day approx. driving between 50-65 miles per day.
Our idea is to come by ferry via IJmuiden - New Castle on the 3th August 2012 then direction Gretna Green, Peebles and then a tour staying in 2 hotels during 5 days and 1 hotel 2 days. We will organize visits of interesting places, ending the tour by leaving the country via New Castle to IJmuiden on the 15th August 2012.
